Meet the LCI Masters Students
As part of our commitment to supporting theology in the city, we offer sponsorship to postgraduate students based in Leeds.
In partnership with Leeds Trinity University and the University of Leeds, this year we are sponsoring two Masters by Research Students and one MA student. We’ve asked them to introduce themselves here…
Tracy Campbell
MA in Religion, University of Leeds
I am a volunteer safeguarding and welfare officer at Chapeltown Juniors FC, working with young people and challenging discrimination.
After a career in marketing and property, I am now focusing on my studies, volunteering, and social justice. A mum of three, I returned to university at 48 to study for an MA in Religion, with interests shaped by her own experiences of resilience and faith.
You can read about Tracy’s research on masculinity, belonging, and the ‘Quiet Revival’ in the upcoming issue of CITYtheology.
Caitlin Fieldhouse
MRes, Leeds Trinity University
My name is Caitlin Fieldhouse, and I am delighted to be a current Master's by Research student in psychology at Leeds Trinity University, funded by the Leeds Church Institute.
My research, currently titled 'Religion, faith, and neurodivergence: A psychological intersectional exploration of the experiences of UK higher education students', aims to explore the impact of religion and faith on psychological concepts impacting intersectional, neurodivergent student experiences in higher education through a mixed-methods design. Outside of my research, I often volunteer for various causes across Yorkshire to help create an accessible region where everyone has the opportunity to succeed!
Pat McDermott
MRes, Leeds Trinity University
I am a Trustee of the Diocese of Leeds and Chair of the Safeguarding Sub-Committee for the Diocese. I am also a foundation governor of a Catholic secondary school.
For the past 10 years I have been an independent safeguarding reviewer for Cognita schools around the world. My professional life has been in Education and this is my 49th year. I have been the Headteacher of three secondary schools, all in areas with high levels of deprivation. After leaving Headship in 2009 I became Regional Director for the Yorkshire and Humber region for the Future Leaders Charitable Trust (FLCT) and identified and trained aspiring Heads for headship in schools for the most deprived areas of the region. I designed, introduced and delivered leadership programmes including NPQH, NPQSL, NPQML and the Talented Leaders Programme for the National College of School Leadership. I have been married for 49 years, have two children and seven grandchildren.
